An Introductory event designed to expose local community members on what working at a climbing gym is like.

During this FREE event, attendees will be provided an overview of ASCEND's job roles, company culture, and the climbing industry as a whole. There will also be time for climbing and assistance with submitting a job application. We welcome anyone who is interested in learning new skills and joining the workforce as an ASCEND employee.

  • No climbing or work experience is required to attend this event.

  • Attending this event does not guarantee employment.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to attend this event.

Climbing Department

Climbing Guide: Climbing Guides at ASCEND are responsible for providing an inclusive, safe, industry-standard, and informatively-engaging climbing programming for ASCEND customers.

Climbing Instructor: Climbing Instructors at ASCEND are responsible for providing an inclusive, safe, industry-standard, and informatively-engaging climbing programming for ASCEND customers.

Climbing Helper: Climbing Helpers at ASCEND are responsible for assisting a Climbing Instructor or Climbing Guide with programming or departmental activities, in conjunction with shadowing programming work flows so as to learn, train, and progress their departmental opportunities.

Fitness Department

Fitness Instructor: Fitness Instructors at ASCEND are responsible for leading safe, engaging fitness classes for all ability levels.

Personal Trainer: Personal Trainers at ASCEND develop safe & effective exercise programs to help members meet & exceed their climbing and fitness goals.

Front Desk Department

General Manager (GM): The GM is directly responsible for daily facility operations, gym level employee management, and ensuring excellent customer service and experience. They will collaborate with ASCEND’s leadership team while also communicating effectively with and delegating tasks to the Assistant General Manager (AGM) and manager team. The GM will create community connections, promoting the gym in the local area to bring business to the gym, always striving for profitability at their facility.

Assistant General Manager (AGM): The AGM will work as a partner to the GM and ensure all ASCEND policies and procedures are followed appropriately by all scheduled on-site personnel. ASCEND’s AGM is expected to be constantly engaged with their employees, manage the staff schedule with consideration of various programming occurring within the facility, and execute ongoing training initiatives.  Additionally, the AGM will serve as a Front Desk Manager multiple shifts per week.

Front Desk Manager (Manager On Duty = MOD): The MOD is the base of ASCENDs leadership team that works under the General Management team at each facility to ensure all ASCEND policies and procedures are followed appropriately by on-site personnel. ASCEND’s MODs are the day-to-day leaders of the facilities and assist in: direct customer service issues (both in store and online), ensure the cleanliness of the facilities, oversee the training of new employees, and aid program directors in the management of the day-to-day programming available.

Front Desk Staff: Front Desk Staff are positioned to provide guests and members with the best indoor climbing experience possible. This looks like providing excellent customer service to members and guests as well as cleaning to keep the facility looking good. While on shift and on-site, ASCEND Staff are expected to remain engaged with other staff members and customers to exude positivity and live by ASCEND’s moral guidelines and brand expectations.

Routesetting Department

Head Routesetter: The Head Routesetter is an exempt role and is responsible for the day to day routesetting operations of their home gym. A successful routesetting program relies on the ability of the head routesetter to direct individual routesetters’ efforts into purposeful units. The Head Routesetter reports directly to the Routesetting Director and oversees the routesetting crew at their home gym.

Routesetter: Routesetters build a large part of the gym experience for our customers. Every shift they work as a team to create engaging and appropriate climbs. They communicate well with their peers, listen to and analyze feedback from colleagues and customers, and have an intense interest in curating an amazing experience for anyone that walks into our gyms. They are professionals, prioritizing safety in all ways and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Yoga Department

Yoga Teacher: ASCEND is seeking experienced instructors for a cross-disciplinary yoga program. The Studio at ASCEND offers a full schedule of varied yoga classes and workshops led by experienced and dedicated teachers. All classes will help students develop, maintain, and progress their yoga and meditation practice, while focusing on proper alignment and form. All instructors will be responsible for providing clients with a safe and exceptional class experience, fostering a supportive environment with clients and among the instructor team and across all departments of ASCEND, and marketing and growing their classes.

Youth Department

Youth Coach: The Youth Coach will be responsible for following the lead of and collaborating with the Head Coach to create a vibrant climbing program and shape a positive and empowering environment. They will work collaboratively with the Youth Director and other climbing coaches to design and implement an appropriate youth climbing curriculum. The Youth Coach will effectively manage small groups and individual climbers during practices or camps, communicate with families and provide hands-on coaching during climbing practices. This includes team practices as well as youth classes and camps.

Camp Coach: The Camp Coach will be responsible for following the lead of and collaborating with the Camp Lead to create a vibrant camp experience and shape a positive and empowering camp environment. They will work collaboratively with the Youth Director and other climbing coaches to implement an appropriate youth camp curriculum. The Camp Coach will effectively manage small groups and individual climbers during camp sessions, communicate positively with camp families and provide hands-on supervision and coaching during camp.
